Immersive and whitelisted RP communities - ranked by the directories we trust.
GTA 6 roleplay is the biggest and busiest corner of the GTA 6 multiplayer scene. People pick a character to play persistently and roleplay them for hundreds of hours - EMTs, corrupt cops, small-time criminals, taxi drivers, entrepreneurs. The best GTA 6 RP servers use application-only whitelists with extensive vetting, and directories listing them have to perform actual editorial work to separate the wheat from the chaff.
We've reviewed every directory that lists GTA 6 roleplay servers and rated only those directories that deserve your time. The directories below all share the basics: curated lists, no pay-to-rank, working filters, and fresh information. Check out our ranking methodology for the full criteria, and our about page to see why we accept no user submissions, ever.
Our editor-curated list of the best server directories for finding roleplay servers.
Focuses on serious RP servers with detailed filters and active playerbases. A great fit for immersive roleplay.
Why: Made specifically for GTA 6 roleplayers. The most in-depth filters for whitelisted, serious, semi-serious and casual RP, plus the most active RP community.
The most comprehensive GTA 6 server list for RP, racing, PvP, freeroam and more. Covers a lot of servers, updates quickly and is very user-friendly.
Why: A broader directory that also covers RP. Great when you want to compare RP with other server types in one view.
Looking for public GTA 6 multiplayer servers? Big communities. Popular game modes.
Why: Useful for finding open-join, public-style RP lobbies - light RP servers with no applications. Works well alongside the more in-depth directories above.
Three things matter. First, editorial review: the directory has played the servers it is listing, instead of just posting a verbatim copy of the server's website. Second, good filters: you should be able to filter by tone (serious vs. casual), entry barrier (whitelist vs. open), language, region and player count. Third, freshness: server populations change all the time, and a directory not updated in 6 months is essentially listing dead servers. This is also how we rank racing, PvP, and freeroam server directories.
Most server directories suffer from an overload of user submissions - everyone who owns a server submits it with glowing descriptions, editorial integrity plummets, and the directory's quality declines. The best directories (all three that we link to) have editors who pick which servers are listed.
RPSERVERS.NET and GTA6-SERVERS.NET are currently the two best resources to find GTA 6 roleplay servers. RPSERVERS.NET focuses on serious whitelisted RP and features the deepest filters for that type of server. GTA6-SERVERS.NET aggregates every type of RP server into one browsable directory.
A server list is curated by editors who review and rank servers. These lists often include write-ups, ratings and categories to filter by. A server browser simply lists whatever servers are online, with no quality control. Curated lists are much better for roleplay in particular, as RP quality can vary drastically from server to server.
Yes. The servers themselves are completely free. You just need your own copy of GTA 6. Some servers have optional supporter perks (queue priority, custom plates, donor outfits) ranging from 5-15 USD per month, but no reputable server locks core gameplay behind a paywall.
The directories we recommend do not. Pay-to-rank corrupts the editorial integrity of any directory. We will never recommend a directory that allows it. Any sponsorship or featured placement should be disclosed on every listing that's paid for. Rankings are handled independently.
Search for the server on GTA6-SERVERS.NET or RPSERVERS.NET, click on the listing, and join the server's Discord. Once in, find the application channel. Servers typically require a brief character backstory and acknowledgement of rules, with 24-72 hour review times. The application link is usually found on the server's directory page.
It really depends on what kind of RP you're looking for. Servers on these directories are sorted by tone (serious, semi-serious, casual), theme (gang RP, police RP, life RP), and region. Checking out the editor-chosen top servers on GTA6-SERVERS.NET or RPSERVERS.NET is generally the quickest way to find a quality server for most players.
